simple and breezy

I’ve been organizing my magazine tears and thought it might be a good idea to scan them in. These make me a little excited for the summer-minus the humidity. The second one of Carolina Herrera Jr. was a tiny picture but one of my favorites. Growing up, my mom started my love for white tunics and peasant like dresses. Simple and breezy is what I remember her loving about them.

shoe rant

Sigh. Reliable shoe count is down to 1. Before teaching, I was happy with all kinds of shoes, but now it’s hard to find a pair that could comfortably support me for an entire day. (No crocs please.) I’ve been switching between two pairs of Born shoes, but they are getting too ratty and the style has been discontinued. If there weren’t so hard on the eyes, they’d be the best brand, but a lot of Born footwear look like orthopedic grandma shoes.

I got these boots for cheap during J. Crew’s winter sale, and so far they’ve passed the test!

Shabd SS10 Collection. So beautiful. Hat tip: unruly things.

Hi. Outfit #1 for July? Hmm. Growing up, tie dye was a staple for field day uniforms. I especially loved the event where the entire team had to maneuver a gigantic beach ball around the obstacle course. The second picture perfectly captures my mood this week: relieved it’s Friday and ready to spend some time outside!

Starting new projects like those that involve clay can be exciting but exhausting. Students are eager to begin but don’t want listen. I think I impressed a few with my (ahem) loud voice—I just don’t like to bring it out much. Also, high school kids are not sneaky at all. Why would you ask if you can make a bong, shot glass, martini glass, or ash tray? I wonder if they sincerely thought I would say, “Sure, as long as it has great surface treatment!”

over overalls

I think denim overalls were on my Christmas wish list for two straight years in the 6th and 7th grade, along with Caboodles, and American Dolls. The resurgence of overalls on the runway kind of makes me rethink the style (they pull it off well, right?), but even with the modern twists, it probably won’t be making my list this year. BJ will be happy about that!

tick tock

Shoot, I got an engagement party to plan. I was against roasted pig, but after BJ fell in love with the pork cheek and dandelion salad at Feast, I think it’s back on the menu. No pig head. I think we can do without it!

Broke the Shopping Ban

I love Saturdays! BJ and I did some work while we watched the first half of the Notre Dame game (GO IRISH). Then, we went to Issues to look for the new LULA magazine, but I must of got it all wrong because they only come out once a year. I bought INDIE instead.

It’s been over a month since this shopping ban, but I finally caved and bought a few things at Anthropologie and the Bead Shop. I can’t decided which Roost bottle opener to keep and which one to give away, but since BJ is from Washington and I’m a teacher, we’re leaning towards the apple. I also snagged two Vera Neumann plates.  Our stash of mismatched dinnerware is starting to grow. Wouldn’t it be cool to have enough for all 300+ wedding guest? Kind of like this…

Anthropologie, fall catalog. They always have beautiful photography, but sometimes it’s hard to remember an outfit in a sea of florals, color, jersey, etc. But I keep thinking about this outfit because of the Maille necklace. I also love the color combination of grey + lime.

If I wasn’t under a shopping ban, mine would probably hold some peppermints, chapstick, my driver’s license, and a strawberry air head xtreme roll (gotta try it if you haven’t!!!)

Jen and Jackie, if you’re reading this, I think I found a replacement for my cookie wristlet!
