I am on a shopping ban for one month with the exception of groceries, gas, and school related purchases. We just have too many bills, deposits, and traveling to do this month. AHH, but then I came across this again on jcrew.

Before I got engaged, I saw this dress and fell in love with it. Simple and elegant, and almost the opposite in terms of style of what I ended up buying. For our reception I already have an ao dai, but I would like  to find a dress to wear at the end of the night, especially if we end up going out together. Gotta be practical though.

erez-1My sister, Christine, ordered a bridesmaid dress from jcrew and it arrived today. It looks awesome on her. Plus, it has pockets so double yay!

While I’m on the topic of weddings, I love Cheri’s garden reception! It’s a dream. She also added more flag necklaces to her etsy shop.

completely smitten

I am completely smitten by these shots from Love Me Do! For me, this 1940s vintage wedding dress is by far the best gown I’ve seen. Ever. The details in the back and the delicate applique won me over right away, and I love the fact that you can move around freely in this piece. No corsets, waist pinchers, and ruffling attendants needed. {swoon}

The photographers did an awesome job of capturing pictures throughout the day that go along with the ethereal qualities of the gown. via c is for charmed

loving stripes

I love stripes. Sometimes too much, like wearing more than 3 pieces of striped clothing at once. Is that a fashion no no? The outfits aboves from Stella McCartney Resort 2010 collection have really nice silhouettes. Loose and flowy but not shapeless. Plus they look extra comfy. {via A Cup of Jo}  More here.

observations:
+ Lots of people like to pick their nose when they drive. Some people even pick it when they know I’m staring.
+ I think playing the melodica really builds up my lung capacity. I can swim 4 laps back to back!

Guess who spent two hours at the DPS for a license and found out at the end that they have an outstanding ticket in Indiana? And while there, the person behind them let out a huge cough right on the the back of their neck?

linen + lace= love

It is so hot here! The grass is turning orange, and I haven’t seen rain in a long time. I already killed my one plant, so that’s kind of discouraging. The tally is now 4 goners under my care. meeh. B and I went to the gym and cooled off in the pool. I can officially swim two laps without stopping in the middle for a break! Whoo hoo.

Sweet Olive Shift

Wouldn’t this be a nice dress for a beach wedding or something to slip on after the reception. Actually, I probably wouldn’t need a special reason to wear it other than it’s made of linen and lace. I like the detail in the back.

Last night, we saw the last showing of Public Enemy. I really really liked it. The cinematography is enough reason to see the film. Probably not a good idea to see a 2 1/2 hour movie at 10:30, but I was able to stay awake and engaged for all of it. Some of the scenes I couldn’t watch because it’s a little too violent for me, but my tolerance level for blood and gore is probably lower than the average viewer. Very low actually. B is writing his thoughts on the movie and I’m going to make him post it.

YAY ROCKETS!

rockets_banner

I used some cardstock paper to make this banner for my classroom.

rockets_watch Aaron Brooks scores another 3. Look at Igby sleeping on my shoulder!

The past few weeks have revolved around Rocket games: when to sleep, when to go to the gym, when to eat, when to start Mother’s Day brunch, when to wear red, and so on. I was lucky enough to go to Game 4, and although I lost my voice screaming and cheering and I gained a few pounds from the fries it was still fun despite the lost. Today was a much better and exciting game!

BJ and I are finally wearing our GAP (RED) artist’s T’s on the same day. His is by Mike Perry and mine is by Matt Owen. Summer break can’t come any sooner. I desperately need some rest, but I feel very blessed that the first year has gone by relatively smoothly.

I’ve been searching for some sheer, good-quality shirts, and these are only ones I’ve liked so far.  The shirt I used sold out online. Luckily, the store nearby had a few in the back. I’m planning on making one for Trang and then for myself. I actually don’t mind how long the drawing takes because it’s super-meditative and more productive than cutting split ends (I’ve been good!)
